Brief Introduction:
Chongqing, the economic
center in the upper-stream region of Yangtze River, is an autonomous
city under direct administration of the central Chinese government,
as the cities of Beijing,  Shanghai
and Tianjin. Chongqing has a history of over 3,000 years. As the
most famous City of Mountain and River, it is a well-known scenery
city in China. Chongqing University was of founded in 1929. In
the year of 2000, the former Chongqing University, Chongqing Jianzhu
University and Chongqing College of Architecture and Construction
amalgamated into a new Chongqing University, the academic domain
of which covers comprehensively the fields of natural science,
engineering, economics, administration, law and arts. FAUP, with
a history of 60years, is one of the biggest faculties in Chongqing
University and rands among the eight most privileged faculties
of architecture in China. FAUP originated in 1930s. In 1952, during
a nationwide reallocation of academic resources, institutes of
6 institutes in Southwest China was combined into the Department
of Architecture, Chongqing Institute of Construction and Engineering.
The Department was renamed as Faculty of Architecture and Urban
Planning, Chongqing Jianzhu University in 1994. After the establishing
of new Chongqing University in 2000, the Faculty became the Faculty
of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University. Currently,
there are 180 full time teaching staffs, including 21 professors
and 24 adjunct professors; 1200 undergraduate students, 340 postgraduate
students including 70 doctorate students in FAUP, which is one
of the biggest faculty of architecture in China. For decades,
FAUP has committed itself in the development of architectural
education in China and obtained abundant accumulation in experience
and achievement of education.
